FAQ – Pool and Spa Opening and Closing
1. Why should a professional open or close my pool?
A technician ensures each step is done properly: reinstalling equipment, cleaning, water treatment, winterizing and inspection. This reduces the risk of damage and extends equipment life.
2. When should I open my pool?
Most pools are opened between late April and early June, depending on weather conditions. Opening early helps prevent algae and makes start-up easier.
3. When should a pool or spa be closed?
Closing is typically done between late September and mid-October, when nighttime temperatures drop below 10°C (50°F). This protects plumbing and equipment from freezing.
4. What is included in an above-ground pool opening?
It includes reinstalling accessories, removing the cover, initial cleaning, shock treatment and full start-up of the filtration system, including the heater.
5. What is included in an in-ground pool closing?
It includes disconnecting equipment, lowering the water level, draining plumbing lines, installing return plugs, adding the winter cover and winterizing the heater.
6. Do I need to prepare anything before your visit?
Simply ensure clear access to the pool or spa and leave all equipment on site. Our technicians handle every step of the opening or closing process.
7. Do you offer outdoor spa winterizing?
Yes. We drain the spa, clear the plumbing and verify overall operation to prevent freeze damage.
8. Are products or parts included in the price?
Labour is included, but replacement parts and certain products such as antifreeze are billed separately.
9. How long does an opening or closing service take?
On average, between 60 and 120 minutes, depending on the type of pool or spa and its condition.
10. Do you provide maintenance advice after opening?
Yes. Our technicians provide personalized recommendations to maintain water quality and optimize equipment performance throughout the season.
